Award winning 21-year-old fiddler Cynthia MacLeod has taken Atlantic Canada by storm with her dynamic performances, entertaining audiences from all corners of the world with her fiery and enthusiastic fiddling and floorboard-burning footwork.
Cynthia has become one of the leading musical ambassadors for Canada's East Coast, flowing with ease from her popular summer ceilidh series in Brackley Beach, PEI to an overflowing theatre in Spruce Grove, Alberta; from an intimate workshop and concert in Kingston, New Hampshire to representing Canada in front of thousands at the 2005 World Expo in Aichi, Japan.
The release of her debut CD in 2002, Head Over Heels, captured a Prince Edward Island Music Award for Album of the Year and since then, she has accumulated a number of PEI Music Awards titles, including:
- Album of the Year for Head Over Heels (2002)
- Instrumental Artist/Group of the Year (2002, 2003 & 2004)
- Roots/Traditional Artist/Group of the Year (2002, 2003 & 2004)
- New Artist of the Year (2002)
- Female Artist of the Year (2002)
- Country Artist/Group of the Year (2004)
- Entertainer of the Year (2003 & 2004)
- Group of the Year with former bandmates Fiddlers’ Sons (2002)
In July of 2004, Cynthia celebrated the release of Crackerjack, her second CD, and had a track included in Prince Edward Island's promotional tourism packages. Since then, Cynthia has continued on her musical path with many performances and accomplishments, including:
- performing at well-known events such as Celtic Colours International Festival, Festival of Lights (Charlottetown), and the Celtic Roots Festival in Goderich, Ontario
- performing regularly for such organizations as the Canadian Cancer Society, IWK, and Children’s Wish Foundation
- showcasing her talent on East Coast Music Awards stages as well as the Canadian Learning Television Station in Edmonton, Alberta
- touring alongside Nils Ling and Gordon Belsher in Alberta with the hit show, "The Truth About Christmas"
- touring throughout the New England states in front of a rapidly expanding fan base
- teaching lessons to many students of all ages
